This tool shows the fixed UTC offset difference. It does not automatically account for daylight saving time changes.

How to use this calculator

Select a timezone for Location A and a timezone for Location B using the dropdowns above. The result updates instantly and shows the hour difference between the two locations. If Location A is ahead of Location B, the result is positive; if behind, it is negative.

All standard UTC offsets are included, including half-hour zones (India UTC+5:30, Iran UTC+3:30) and quarter-hour zones (Nepal UTC+5:45, Chatham Islands UTC+12:45).

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the time difference between two places?

Each location has an offset from UTC, and the difference between those offsets is the gap in local time. Pick both locations in the calculator and it shows the current difference, so you do not have to add and subtract offsets by hand.

Does daylight saving time change the difference?

Yes. Many regions move their clocks forward for part of the year, which can shift the difference between two places by an hour. If you are planning ahead, confirm the offset for the specific date rather than assuming it stays fixed all year.

Why do some time zones use half or quarter hours?

Not every zone is a whole number of hours from UTC. India runs at UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, parts of Australia use 30 minute offsets, and Nepal uses 45 minutes, so a difference can include part of an hour.

How do I pick a good meeting time across zones?

Look for the overlap where normal working hours line up in both places. Converting a proposed time in the calculator before you send the invite avoids the classic mistake of scheduling a call in the middle of someone's night.
